As Paul says, Chinese quality is bad now. I have been buying american made tools off ebay, like older Sears of Snap-On.
I recently bought a Sears floor model drill press from the 50's off ebay.
Cost me $105. THis is a very heavy cast iron floor drill press, made by King Sealey and has a nice 1/2 horse american made motor. Good capacity for bigger projects.
Can't find anything new near that price of comparable quality.
