When I was at Kandahar Army Airfield, Afghanistan, (Known as KAF to those who where/are there) each time a fallen comrade was sent home we did what we called a "Ramp Ceremony". Sadly to say, I attended many Ramp Ceremonies. Some for fallen Canadian soldiers, some for fallen British soldiers, and also for fallen US soldiers. Watching as the remains of your fallen Comrades are loaded on either a C-17 or a C-130 for that finale flight home is not something easily forgotten.
