This fellow who is looking to purchase the three power wagons reminds me , of period in my life . Along time ago I cant seem to remember exactly the year ,but over thirty any way. I had just borrowed a large sum of money to open my garage , I used the money to purchase the much needed equipment necessary to fill the shop . To say I was in debt was a under statement , it hung over me like a cloud .On this hot august afternoon a old boy pulls up while I was working , he was wearing work clothes, well worn work clothes and a cotton shirt buttoned to the neck and a light jacket on top of the shirt .I was sweating like a work horse . He comes over to me . He asks me, if I have any bread ?, so I think, he’s old, its hot out ,he’s lost his mind ,but I am polite . He introduces himself “my name is Archie MacEcrearn I am in my 87 year of this fantastic life “ . I knew your fathers, father he farmed not far from me . So I wiped my face and hands , said lets grab some shade it to hot to talk out here .Well we go over to the north side of the building and set up against a maple tree and we started talking . We spent the entire afternoon he was the most pleasant and comical man you would ever want to meet . I didn’t realize I had burned up the afternoon talking way . Now by 530 it was near the close of my day and time to get home for my chores . So I asked Archie “ what did you mean by do I have any bread”. There was silence so I asked him again “did you need a few bucks too get you along “. He said to me looking over his glasses , “I heard of talk in town of your under taking ,here, and I understand what your up against , but if you have bread , enough to eat and if you work hard and keep your chin up and don’t despair the butter will follow “.We were close friends after that day till his 101 birthday when he passed. After many years of struggling with the garage ,we had butter on our table ~ Copey
