I run a 2500 4x4 shortbed quad cab with a double door steel shell on the bed. The shell is a custom out of Reno that's worth it's weight in gold (a little pricey too) Maxed i've pulled is 6500, an you didn't even know it was there... that's with a auto, 3.73 gears and 35" tires and a 2" suspension lift. I'm looking for a 10K trailer to load up the FFPW for a total of 8500, and I don't expect a problem, but I don't think I'll be doing that but once or twice a year anyways

Pulling I see 11-12, city is 16-18, highway cruising is 18-20, and the best I've ever seen is 22.1, keeping the rpm at 1800 or lower which worked out to 65mph, that was also at a higher altitude. I'd look for a truck with the HO cummins that's pre 06. I have a 2004.5, and would do everything exactly the same if I was buying another truck.

Some may tell you to run 4.10 gears if you tow 10K, but lots depends on how you pull it and what size tires you have. They'ed probably be right, but I don't tow much, haven't modded anything under the hood, and haven't seen a hiccup. I've been on TDR 6 months before I bought my truck getting information. It's all there, and it's worth $35 bucks to do the unlimited searches and not have to look at the ads.
