Seems they bought motor home chassis a year's worth at a time, and left them outside, in Wisconsin winters. When it was time to bring one in during winter production, a guy would go out with a pole and poke around in the snow to find one. But the ones left til spring would have their differentials fill up with melting snow. The 90 wt floats on top of the water, and the water would rust the bottom half of the bearings. You could see the high water line all the way through the diffs.
