I have a 2004 quad cab LWS 3500 SRW with which I tow a gooseneck Econoline 18,000 pound capacity trailer carrying my PW. Weight is about 11.000 for the trailer/PW. The truck pulls like stink and I get about 16 mpg in highway travel pulling thse combo.. It drops significantly in the hills of PA, VT, and upstate NY. Empty the trailer and the milage improves to about 17 mpg. Unloaded the truck bets 22 mpg in mild traffic, and 25+ at 55 on the flat highways of LI, NY. The single rear wheels work fine for the loads I am likely to carry. The dual rear wheels will allow a larger payload/ gooseneck tongue weight.
