I don't understand what you mean by the tractor being undersized. The only really larger ones are off road only and you don't see many of those. Pulling a load like that the tractor is surely built specifically for heavy haul. Those rigs still use standard cabs, just with big power and heavier suspension. Really don't look much biggger, just sit a bit taller.
I saw a similar load yesterday heading north on 97 in WA on the south side of Satus pass. He had a piece of one of those wind generators and was just crawling.
Makes my 105,000 lbs loads look pretty puny in comparison. I've been driving a similar looking black Pete.
