Liquid nails is a simple solvent-based adhesive with a lot of filler added. You need to scrape off what you can, but to get the residue off, any strong solvent like lacquer thinner will work. It's not like an epoxy, silicone, or polyurethane that sets up chemically. If you don't care about the paint, you can use a methylene chloride based paint remover like "aircraft stripper".
