Yes...Just that it takes a bigger bolt to do the same job as a rivet.
a 5/16" rivet has a higher shear strength than a 5/16" bolt...especially a grade 8 bolt, which has a lower shear strength than a grade 5 bolt.
If bolts make you happy...drill away.
My level of concern over my spring hangers was exaggerated but I certainly won't be removing every bolt on my frame to bolt it together.
I'm really not concerned about the strength...it's just unnecessary. If your frame is so rusted that it needs blasting between the 2 channels...look for a West Coast frame for $300 & save yourself hundreds of hours of work...& have a more valuable vehicle when your done...that's all I'm saying.
They weren't riveted to save money...virtually every frame since the beginning of cars has been riveted.
