Just a round pin. I used the butt end fo a drill bit.

Find a bit that is the next size up from the hole, ( just a couple thousandths, an odd size like 11/64") and hammer it in, then cut it off with an abrasive wheel. Rest of bit still good. Drill shanks are pretty tough, make good pins for assorted tasks. You want it in all the way, but not too far, it can bind the shifer a bit. Get the pin started, then install shifer, and hammer some more while rocking shifter, until it just gets sticky, then slam shifter back and forth- max penetration, no bind.

When I got my truck, it had a grade eight bolt welded in. It was too small for the hole, hence the weld. But the grade eight bolt got brittle from the weld, and broke. Now it had a short pin slopping around in the hole- shifting was like stirring soup.

Glad you got the old one out, you don't want loose parts wandering around inside there to get picked up and jammed between gears. instant stops could happen, or broken drive lines,
