I went threw this issue a couple of months ago.I had two guys who did trannys for Dodge up until a year or so ago when the started there own shop.They told me the Getrag is far better when you have the 205 behind it.I was going to do a NV4500 swap,but would have had to take out a second mortgage(LOL).They said they have done hundreds of the conversions for customers and if you use your truck for WORK(serios towing,4-wheelin,or have your Cummins turned up),putting the 205 behind the 4500 nine out of ten times it will crack/break the aluminum adaptor loosing trans fluid causing the 4500 to go out.I got lucky and found a re-built Getrag with less than 10,000 miles on it for $900.oo(with a spare 205).Not from the two mechanics either.
