Double when it turns out to be someone we know; the difficult crossroads of offical duty and personal hurt. Didn't happen much in a large department like mine, fortunately, but it did happoen. Been awhile for me, but I still remember them.
The young guys don't feel it yet, they're still bulletproof. All I can say is give it time to heal, and be patient while it does. It will heal. Rolling hose and laying hosebeds are a great way to meditate... in my humble Suppression opion, of course.
