I bought a vehicle that had a Pertronix set up in it. It was hard to start and ran inconsistant. I got tired of checking and adjusting the timing. Nothing helped. I switched to a Mopar electronic ignition distributor and a MSD 6A box.
I think the drawback of the pertronics is that the electronic circuitry is inside the distributor and subject to the heat of the engine. Some people like that clean and original breaker point distributor look that the Pertronix offers you. I hid my ignition box under the dash. Same look but it starts and runs better.
