I don't have a specific example in mind, but US-made WW2 GI tools and equipment are far superior to anything you can buy new off the shelf these days.

Many WW2 vehicle collectors benefit from having collected the full original tool kits. I saw a huge pile of surplussed WW2 axes and shovels that had been changed out by the Norwegians in the early 1990s and looked better than the new replacements.
