OT but still dodge

I have a 93 3/4 ton 4x4 with a cummins in it that needs the oil pan gasket replaced. I got out my 93 dodge service manual, looked up oil pan gasket replacement it says,
#1 remove engine, please dont tell me that is true. Has anybody done this. Is the oil pickup tube the problem. I can at least see all the bolts some may be a little tricky. Bring on the good news.
