I fabricated two side saddle tanks for my yellow 6x6. I cut the diamond patterns off of a pair of running boards and welded them to the top of the tanks. Look at any post by Tom Petroff and open the link to his misc. pictures. Open the pictures of his tow trucks and other peoples trucks. There are several pictures of the yellow truck there. The pics might give you some good ideas to work with.
