I installed a Westach #3CT33-6V tachometer in April on my 1946 WDX (6V, Positive ground). This PN is for 3 impulses per revolution. I have the red wire connected from #5 on the tach to the distributor side of the coil. The black wire is from #2 on the tach to a good ground. I did not cut any loop wire. It reads steady at all times and correctly. Can't help much more.
