The gov. doesn't just say,"hey folks are getting hurt real bad when they have accidents, lets think of away to help protect them" Its the speacial interest groups(mainly insurance)who lobby for those laws.Profit is the bottom line, and when the insurance co's can get the gov. to pass laws (that actually do protect people)that keep costly bodily injuries down, they make money.I believe an adult has the right to choose whether or not they will take the safety precautions. The insurance co. can just have stipulations on how they will pay if you were not using a safety device, such as covering the vehicle but not the people not wearing safety devices.I believe in protecting children, but I was not forced to wear a helmit on a bicycle growing up and neither will my son! I'll just pay their little petty fine.I forsee aday when you won't be able to come outside without a helmit, gloves, elbow&knee pads or be fined.I get the impression the gov. has been programed by the insurance co.s and corp.to believe the citizens are sheep who must be watched over and protected from ourselves.Just remember when you get tired of being treated like a child, with control of your life growing smaller every year, only 17% of the population fought for independence and backed the revolution. Our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is being restricted every year.If you are not willing to fight for your freedoms and rights, you will lose them.
