I stopped to look at a Dodge truck that was parked by the road with a for sale sign in the window. The truck is, I would guess, about a 1954-55 1 1/2 ton dual rear outfit. There is no bed and it has a winch mounted behind the cab but no cable or drive to the winch. I was getting ready to walk away when I noticed two exhaust pipes comming out from under the cab. Curious, I opened the hood and there was a flat head six, 6 volt system, with a very stock looking twin carb manifold and twin exhaust manifold.
Doe's any one know about this engine and the likely transmission behind it? The set up would look really good in my 49 PW pickup. I wonder if it is a 251 or a 265 Dodge motor. I seem to remember some talk on this forum that it is possible to put one of these in place of the 235 but the radiator had to be moved forward.
Any comments on the possible value of this rig?? The body is not very good and the only parts of value are possibly the engine, transimiision with PTO and the winch which I could resell since it is a rather large one.
