Never has the purpose of government been so crisply defined as with these words of Thomas Jefferson. The idea of a government with one purpose and one purpose alone, maintaining freedom. This idea witch may have been revolutionary in his time has yielded the greatest nation on the face of the earth.
We have a turbulent history and many incidents we regrettably can't take back, yet the one thing that allows us to stand out is our ability to self govern. For every indelible scar in our history books there is the knowledge that our liberation was carried out within our own.
But now we face an aggressor that may not be defeated, our own people with ideas that freedom can be maintained by prohibiting free activities and banishing inanimate objects. That it is possible to distribute freedom on the basis of someone else's determination of your need for that freedom. People who have completely abandoned the principals on which this nation was founded, and are quickly loosing grasp of the true meaning of freedom. There methods are slow and deliberate, and worst of all, well intended.
