45-51 Up-to-type 4 speed sliding gear - the same
52 to early 56 4 speed sliding gear - has larger gears/case than up-to-type
1st series M37 NP420 sycro transmission is different than the later M37 NP420
Late 56 to 68 NP420 is simular to later M37 NP420, but shift towers are different.
