The low-idle situation will only affect the alternator when the engine first starts. As soon as the RPM get high enough (when revving the engine the first time) the alternator will excite, and start charging, and continue to do so even if the RPM drop.

Adding a second battery for use when plowing (see below post) will not solve the problem. You will wind up with two drained batteries instead of one. You are better off adding a second BMF battery and a battery isolator and a cross-over switch or relay set-up. That will give you a "spare" battery to use to get started again if you stall. The ideal solution would be an alternator with a higher output. They are available, but not cheap. Ambulances and fire engines use them.
