I've always done my own. My minimum precautions is either logging chain wrapped through the holes, or bolt the rim on a truck backwards. Plus use a $10 clip-on chuck, and control the air from the other end of the hose. Last time, I even made an adapter to snap an air gauge on that end of the hose.

Airing it up while upside down, and standing over it is foolish. If it blows, shrapnel will go every direction. Even rubber shreds can do serious damage to you potatsies when they are hanging in the danger zone.

When dealing with explosives, Distance = safety.
