We've got a 12 valve in our service truck, never had any issues, good motor, good mileage. Dad's got a '07 3500 Megacab with the 6.7 and manual transmission. I think its quieter than most gas jobs! Great engine, fuel mileage gets better and better especially the harder you push the truck.

The only issue we've had and its because of the new emission mess for the diesels. The egr sensors get dirty from the exhuast and will cause the engine to not run right. They've done some reprogramming which corrected most of the issues. They finally came up with a little shield to go over the egr sensors. They said once this is done, there should be no more issues whatsoever. Ford and Chevy have had similar issues with there new diesels related to the emissions mess. My 2 cents.
