Chris covered it very well in his following post. The hinged windshield makes the problem, both for cowl mounted wipers or motors in the valance. The windshield hinges in the valance consume a lot of real estate.
All the wiper motors that I have tried, have the output shaft off center with the motor shaft. This requires the motors to be
installed facing opposite directions, but the windshield hinges wont allow that. Further mounting the motors in opposite directions put the wiper drive shafts at different locations vertically. One wiper shaft would be higher up on the front of the cab and really look dumb.

So far, the only wiper motors that fit, and have the power to rip you finger off is the Trico motor, built for a Saab Platform. These are small powerful motors with the output shaft in the same plane as the motor shaft. These would fit, however they are only built in a 170 degree arc of travel. This is about 100 degrees more arc than we can handle on a PW/WC/M37. The arc travel is non adjustable. Even machining a new drive gear will not eliminate your problem as the wiper/park contacts are built into the reverse side of the drive gear. The wiper/park contacts allow user configuration for Dynamic Park or Coast to Park. So as good as the Saab wipers are, they will not work in our application. Its a shame as these are really quality units. I would hate to see the price LOL

As I reported a few months ago, the Trico Engineer told me that only motors with the large external motor driving into the gear train will handle snow and slush. The smaller self contained motor/gear train wont cut it for snow/slush/ice.
