memphis equiptment taxes on mail order

has anyone out of state(non TN.) mail orderd from memphis equiptment and been charged tax? I went to use the "buy it now" on a ebay sale from them $25.00 with free shipping. fine print said i would by charged FL tax (my state)and tax on shipping and handling.since there was not shipping in this case that would not have applied and i canceled before the final tally so i dont know if they would have tried to get me on a bogus handling trump up+tax.
bottom line, i didnt buy it and there should never be tax on out of state sales. not the normal procedure in IMO. BEWARE, BB
