Hi guys,

Although I'm new to this group, I've owned my '60 LCF for a good while now.

I bought a used Model 700 Radio from a guy through one of the Yahoo.com groups, and won't be selling it off even though I paid more for a used radio than what Brad's radios will sell for. Oh, and I already have one of Eric's repro antennas (which look great, BTW).

Even though I haven't had this used radio restored yet, it is actually just as valuable to me as one of these NOS radios. My plan all along has been to modify the radio with modern internal components - including both AM and FM bands (I'll keep just the AM frequency markings) with a top-mounted/hidden band selection switch.

Call me a purist if you will, but I'll feel better doing that sort of conversion on something other than an NOS part. I will let the guys who want a tube-type AM snap up all of Brad's new sets. Even though the price per new set is "right", I would still feel funny hacking up a vintage new part. My unrestored/original tubes and other components aren't likely to be of much value to anyone other than a radio repair shop that occasionally sees one of these, but that's OK. It's better to potentially toss used parts than new ones.

Personally, I'd rather have a more modern but stock-appearing radio than a NOS bone-stock tube-style AM. It's merely my preference not to buy a NOS set just to hack it up.

That's my $0.02 anyway...
