David, The snipe services are designed to do exactly what the name implies, snipe the auction at the last possible second, nothing more, nothing less. Simply because they don't bid until the last possible second. A proxy bid service on the other hand is designed to keep the bid placer at high bid all through the auction to the extent of the funds the bidder has allocated. The snipe services do nothing less than rob the seller of bidders that would have bid to win the item in a bidding war. As a buyer with snipe it is a great tool, as a seller, (when the shoe is on the other foot), it sucks. I heartedly agree with you about Ebay loading the ad crap to the extent that it slows the site to a crawl.
