I have heard about this security hole from multiple sources, including people I know in major IT positions.
I always use Firefox anyway, so it is not much of a concern for me, IE almost never runs on my computer. I got the IE patch the second I knew it was out anyway, no reason to take chances.
I feel that even with the patch Firefox is safer then IE. Click on the link below for the Firefox home page. I recommend downloading it and using it as your browser. As a bonus Firefox also has a built in spell checker for everything you type. Very useful for forums.
