The trouble with a revolution every 25 years, is we'd get whatever is popular at the moment. I remember in the '60s a lot of people were calling for a new constitutional convention. Can you imagine what this country would be like if all the popular ideas of the late '60s were enshrined in the constitution? Our founding fathers also wrote that "governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes", which I think is the essence of true conservatism. I happen to still think our constitution is pretty good, and the structure of our government is pretty good. The problem is the people we've elected to run it. We could have a "revolution" without changing a word of the constitution if we just elected a different bunch to fill all the offices.
