When I lived in Alaska you saw quite a few ffPW with DC3 aircraft tires on them. THey were used on the beach for set net sites and in other soft ground areas. They either had special rims built or took combat rims and removed the center from one and then bolted it ti another combat rim. It made a wide rim that would hold a wide flotation tire. Reminds me of the photo that Joe posted below. These tires were not used on the road much.
