A little history of this unit for those who are interested. For several years it was standard Thanksgiving tradition to go to my brother-in-laws place in the country. One Thanksgiving, having grown tired of sitting inside with the grownups, the kids and I went for a walk around the place. I spotted an interesting looking pile of stuff is some tall grass and went to investigate. At the edge of the grass lay a complete belt pulley. I felt like a blind hog who just rooted around and found a big ol pile of acorns. My brother-in-law said take anything you want, I'm trying to get rid of that junk. I came home that day with the belt pulley, a belt driven buzz saw, and two 4-ft dia. steel implement wheels. The buzz saw has been rebuilt and the wheels cleaned and painted. They presently are quite attractively displayed along with other such treasures amongst the rhododendron and flowers in my "MAN GARDEN". I'm presently working on the belt pulley which will assume center stage in the garden when completed.

In the future (not too distant I hope) the belt pulley will go on my 52B3PW complete with correct square top carb and governor assembly aquired through VPW.

Not knowing any better, I had always assumed the belt pulley was from a Ford tractor as those seem to be the most common. Upon disassembly I found the bearings stamped with a part number and I.H.C. My bearing man confirmed that stands for International Harvester. So the assumption now is that this is an IH unit. I have come to the conclusion that more damage than good would come from further disassembly as others have mentioned here. My bearing man tells me all the bearings and seals are readily available but the roller bearing still in the unit will possilbly be hard to find. The bearing is still in excellent condition and I had planned to change it only to make everything new. So it's time for a good cleaning, reassembly, and painting. Hope you enjoyed the story.
