Now about the speedometer correction. The manufacturer stopped making the parts needed to make adapters that mount to the speedometer. These had to have 5/8 inch fitting at the speedometer and 7/8 at the transfer case. I haven't been able to get those parts for a couple of years. You can still get the adapters wtih two 7/8 inch fittings for mounting on the transfer case. (speedo cables are 5/8 at one end and 7/8 at the other). This is a bit cumbersome with the transfer case in the truck....not much room to work. It is however a mechanically better location because it does not put any additional strain on the cable.

Unfortunately, I can now longer supply those either because the guy I worked with got out of the business.

If you want one, do a Google search for speedometer ratio adapters. You will find many speedometer shops who will supply them. If you have a local shop, try them first. The type I used was the SSWIP 800 series. This is a heavy duty box mostly used on big trucks.

You will need to tell them what you want the box to accomplish. Usually they think in terms of 1000 rpm in gives how many rpm out. For example, if you go to 4.89 gears, all else the same, you would want the box to deliver a 20% increase or 1200 out for 1000 rpm in.

These boxes can be made up in almost any ratio, usually as close as 0-3% plus or minus of what you need.

Sorry I cannot help any more, let all of us know if you find a good source.

George
