Dan, it wasn't tooling as much as cost vs sales. The Dodge frames are hydro formed with mid sections added to change wheel base, so the frame part is easy, just added cost when Daimnear Chrysler was in charge.
The drive line, fuel lines, wiring looms, etc. etc. all needed to be changed.
With Daimler pinching pennies it wasn't going to happen.
With Daimler gone, we may see some improvement in product this year, but a large part of what we are seeing now is still Daimler designs for at least the next year.
