That was money to make more fuel efficient cars. But when this crisis hit there was talk about using that money just to keep the books in the black, not to use it to retool.

Now there is a request for an ADDITIONAL $25,000,000,000 and I would like to see a plan, a real plan.

I agree one tries not to lay off workers, but if the company is losing 3,000,000,000 a month, workers need to get laid off. It sucks, but something has to be done. Maybe Chrysler should eliminate 12 models instead of 6, or something.

This is no longer a time for playing nice, bad things are going to happen either way.

As for the new standards costing 150 Billion to achieve, don't all imports have to meet the same standards? Did we as a government give them $8,000,000,000 each? I am guessing no, so this means either other companies will no longer sell in the US, or they will find the money on their own. Why should we as a people be paying our companies $25 Billion to do what should be done? Better fuel economy is patriotic after all. Less oil use, less pollution, etc.
