Tough call, while it was Detroit's bad decision to give in to union demands that led to health and welfare costs that were impossible to pay for, it was at the urging of government.
Was it Detroit's bad decision that lead to government imposing CAFE standards that raise the cost of every vehicle?
Was it Detroit's bad decisions that lead to safety regulations run amuck? (mandated tire pressure monitors!?)
Was it Detroit's fault that the bankers dried up the lending market, after government forced them to loan money to folks that had no chance of repaying those loans?
Was it Detroit's fault that they were building vehicles that customers wanted to buy, until fuel costs went up $2.75 per gallon in 1 year?
I have no sympathy for Detroit, but there will be millions affected that had no hand in making these decisions.
I see the villain as government run amuck and the victims are all of us...unless you hold the voters accountable for allowing these political fiasco's to happen.
While none of the choices are palatable, we are sleeping in the bed we made...
