As far as I'm aware, the fender heaters are all hot water powered heater, not fuel-fired heaters, so there's no issue with the fuel valve coils. One thing I have noticed with the fuel-fired heaters is that the ignitor is actually 12 volts, and there's a dropping resistor in the box on top of the heater to drop the 24 volts down to 12. If you wanted to run it on 12 volts, just bypass that dropping resistor.
