These cables have screw-on ends that were obviously made to have a special tool. I hated to bung mine up by using a pipe wrench or channel locks, and was thinking about making a special wrench. Then I remembered a sink wrench that I've only used once or twice. It's a Harbor Freight "Basin wrench" #91289, and it worked like a champ to turn the special nuts on those cables without tearing anything up. Unfortunately, they don't seem to sell it any more. It's not the "basin wrench" that's like a crow-foot pipe wrench for unscrewing the hoses from the faucet mechanism. It's made for working the big nut that holds the drain into the sink. It has one pivoting arm with a hook on the end of it, and fixed arm with a V notch on the end. The plumbers no doubt have a name for it. Fits the cable connectors just dandy.
