Each series of bed is a different length, maybe different series don't need the slot? Or maybe I rabbeted my lumber deeper, making the strip/slot fit less obvious? I never noticed the fit until I saw the pic posted yesterday. And my hinge was cracked on one side, needed welding, and 'adjusting' with a hammer, but still I never noticed.
