Ebay wants to be just like Amazon.com. They want only high-volume sellers. They're squeezing out the little guy who just has a few things to sell. Call me a communist if you want, but I'd like to see the government use anti-trust laws against some of these monopolistic software companies. Ebay is no different from Microsoft -- they have a mediocre product, but they've locked everybody else out of the market. What Ebay needs is real competition -- some other auction sites that appreciate their members, don't have endless obscure lists of things you can't sell, and don't take arbitrary action to punish the wrong people.

If somebody came up with a decent to alternative to ebay, one that was geared towards the small-time sellers, everybody would flock to it. The trouble is there are no alternatives. Craigslist is regional and doesn't do auctions. Nickel want ads are similar, but you have to pay for them. The only auction sites that get any traffic at all are the gun auctions, and that's only because ebay's banned everything gun-related.
