An old mechanic showed me this trick. You have to know the location and it has to be relatively clean. But if you can't get in a position to read it (in my case my bifocals make this a problem), take a piece of plain white paper, lay it over the area where you know the stamping has been done, then take a soft lead pencil or even a crayon, and wipe side to side over the paper. This should leave you a negative impression of the actual letters/numbers in the frame. JH
