I thought R was for Rear...

And that would keep the nuts from loosening, since the rear wheels are driven by the axles, but the fronts are more often in neutral and get driven in the opposite direction by the road... ;)

And if that were true, you'd want the R hubs on L/R and R/F, and the L hubs on L/F and R/R. Easier just to remember L on Left, R on Right.
