Forks are a must. and one thing I looked for when I got mine was the capability to get out when I had a load raised. Most of the skids are too safe anymore you can't open the door or operate the bucket unlarr you have complied wi9th some seatbar or door.
I like to lift a load and then get out and work on it like a engine swap and still be able to walk the machine arround. I have a bobcat and I am6'5" so I cut out the front of the rops cover and bolted 2" spacers under the front roips mounts to raise it enough.
