Much resistance = little spark, plus no oxygen in tank

The coils in the gauge have resistance so not much of a spark likely. And good contacts don't spark. Plus, the contacts are inside of a metal 'can' that acts as a spark arrester. Then there is also the fact that the gas fumes are sooo rich, the tank atmosphere is 'flooded'- no oxygen, no explosion.

A billion cars in the world, not many explosions. It's probably OK to hook your's up too.
