noisey F-350 fuel pump after 6 years

Hi all,

Here is an interesting situation.

After 6 years of driving my 96, F-350, diesel, it appears that the fuel pump is priming itself???, when I turn the key to heat the glow plugs first thing in the morning.

This happens after the truck has sat for 8-10 hours. It does not happen if I turn it on after 5 hours.

It just started making noise 3 days ago.

Is there a valve in it that was stopping fuel from draining back into the tank??

It appears to be an inline pump.

Or, is this a normal noise?
