I think Chris has it spot on here with the loss of residual pressure resulting in leaks at the cups.
The 1960 IHC B140 I had did this. Drive it every few weeks and all was well. Let it sit for six months and what Chris described occurred. A simple bleed of the brakes brought it back to normal, excepting where the brake fluid leaked down the backing plates.
