Though those living within a couple miles of the coast have trouble with salt air.

Those trucks used east of the Cascades (Eastern Washington and Oregon) also have little troubles due to rain. I've seen old cars and trucks abandoned in the 1950's and 60's that, other than badly oxidized paint, have decent sheetmetal.

Steve Greenburg, a fellow Military Vehicle Collector Club of Oregon member (MVCCO) bought a VC-3 pickup. The frame was actually from a VC-1 Command Car. He was given a lead on where the original body might be. After a 100 mile trip, the body was found in a ravine. The paint was still intact as was the military lettering. It is now fully restored and is the VC-1 you see with the Quartmasters markings on it in various photos.
