It depends....

There are generally two types of 12 volt, negative ground pumps out there. The most commmon type is a fairly low pressure type that can be found at most auto parts or marine stores.

These types are usually good for about 15 psi or so, which is often too much for many carburetors, which usually like about 3-5 psi. If so, you'll need a fuel pressure regulator.

The other type is a high pressure pump, which pressurizes the fuel to 100 psi or more. These are typically used in mechanical diesel fuel injection systems. Finding pumps are a bit harder, but can usually be ordered through most good shops. They're not cheap, though, nearly $300.
