By pulling the PTO lever towards the door and it disappears somewhat, indicates your probably missing the antivibration washer at the shift rail/lever end. You will also hear a lot of vibration noise from:

- Rear motor mounts that are gone and should be replaced;
- Worn idler and reverse gear shafts (if you have the two shaft PTO);
- Cab floor cover lays on top of the transmission, main culprit from cab insulators that have sagged);
- Low oil, use 140 weight gear oil, and one bottle of STP (if your changing your oil)

If you don't use the PTO, taking it off will greatly reduce your noise.

Sounds like you need to rebuild your carb.
