I finished installing my GM alternator in my 12 volt 48 B1-PW 230 engine. It starts fine. A friend told me if you disconnect the battery while the engine is running and it does not quit then the alternator is working. I did this and the engine kept running. However I noticed the headlights got brighter as I increased the RPM's. Is this normal? Also I used the old pulley from the generator on the new alternator. It is larger in diameter than the one that came on the alternator. Is this OK? I can't see how it would matter.
By the way don't work around the alternator with any jewelry on. I melted the watchband off of my wrist. I know I should know better.
I saw one of those W500's today with a boom on the back for cutting tree limbs. Had a huge winch on the front. Very impressive. I gave him the thumbs up as he went by. He smiled and gave me one back. Unfortunately I wasn't driving my PW.
